Remember The Thing You Wanted To Fix With Your Dog This Year? We Still Have Time.

Not sure where to start?

Maybe you started the year saying:

“This is the year I'm finally going to work on this.”

The pulling.

The jumping.

The barking.

The puppy who still doesn't come when called.

The dog who loses their mind when someone comes to the door.

Or maybe you brought home a puppy this spring and thought, We'll have so much time to train over the summer.

And somehow...it's Labor Day.

The kids are going back to school. Fall schedules are starting. Sports, work, activities, appointments and everything else are filling the calendar again.

And the thing you wanted to work on with your dog?

It's still there.

Maybe it's better than it was.

Maybe you've made some progress.

Or maybe you keep thinking:

“I know I need help. I just don't know where to start.”

If that's you, this is your reminder that you don't have to figure out the whole plan today.

You just need to choose the next step.

Maybe you've been trying to do it yourself

There is SO much dog training information available now.

You can search YouTube and find 47 videos telling you how to stop your dog from pulling on the leash.

You can follow trainers on Instagram and TikTok.

You can Google every problem as it happens.

And honestly? You can learn a lot that way.

The problem comes when you try it and think...

Am I doing this right?

Why does it work in my kitchen but not outside?

Should I be rewarding this?

Is my timing wrong?

Why did this work for three days and then stop?

Is my dog scared or excited?

Do I keep practicing this or try something different?

A video can show you how to teach something.

It can't watch your dog and tell you what you're missing.

That's often the piece people actually need.

You may not need a huge training commitment

I think sometimes people put off getting help because they assume dog training is going to require a giant commitment of time or money.

It doesn't have to.

You might just need someone to say:

“Show me what's happening.”

And then help you figure out what to do next.

That's one of the reasons we've expanded the ways we work with families at Sit n Stay.

Some people want us to do more of the hands-on work.

Some want to train their own dog but need professional guidance.

Some love coming to a weekly class.

And some just need an affordable way to ask questions and keep moving forward.

There isn't one “right” way to get dog training help.

There is the way that works for you and your dog.

If you're busy and want us to help do the training: Dog School

If your first thought is:

“Kim, I barely have time to read this blog. When exactly am I supposed to train the dog?”

Dog School may be your answer.

Your dog spends the day with our professional trainers working on real-life skills while you work, take care of your family, or handle everything else on your list.

Dog School isn't daycare.

Your dog's day includes training, enrichment, appropriate social experiences, practice around distractions, and—equally important—learning how to settle and rest.

We can do much of the repetition and foundation work for you, while also helping you understand how to use those skills at home.

And we're extending our 10% off Dog School sale!

We originally offered our 10% off promotion as we headed into back-to-school season, but since this is officially the first week of school for many Western New York families, we're extending it through this week.

If you've been thinking about Dog School, this is a great time to get started.

If you want professional help without leaving home: Online Training

This is probably the option people misunderstand the most.

Online dog training doesn't mean buying a bunch of videos and being left to figure everything out yourself.

In fact, that's exactly the problem we're trying to solve.

Our online programs give you the education plus access to an actual trainer.

Depending on the program, that can include:

  • Face-to-face time with a trainer
  • Live Q&A
  • Personalized feedback
  • Video review
  • Help troubleshooting what's happening in your home
  • A community where you can ask questions
  • Training you can do when it fits your schedule

You don't have to drive anywhere.

You don't have to rearrange your entire week around a class.

And you're not stuck wondering whether you're doing it correctly.

For a lot of families, this is the middle path between trying to piece everything together from YouTube and making a large investment in private training.

If you want an affordable, structured place to learn: Group Classes

Sometimes you just need to put training on the calendar.

That's one of the things I love about group classes.

For one hour each week, you're going to work on the dog.

No laundry.

No emails.

No “I'll practice this tomorrow.”

You have a trainer there to help, you get practice around real-life distractions, and you have something specific to work on between classes.

Group training is also one of our most affordable ways to get professional, in-person help.

We have classes for different ages, skills and goals, so you don't have to know exactly what you need before you start.

If you need ongoing support: Join the Membership

Maybe you don't need a complete training program.

You just don't want to be alone when questions come up.

That's where our membership can be a great fit.

It gives you continued access to training education and support without making a large commitment.

Because sometimes the difference between giving up and making progress is simply having somewhere to ask:

“Okay...what do I do now?”

You don't have to know what kind of help you need

This might be the most important part.

You don't have to diagnose your own dog before asking us for help.

You don't have to know whether you need Dog School, a group class, an online program, membership support or something else.

Tell us what's happening.

Tell us what you'd like life with your dog to look like instead.

Tell us how much time you realistically have.

We'll help you figure out the rest.

Because the best training plan isn't necessarily the biggest or most expensive one.

It's the one you'll actually be able to use.

There are still almost four months left in this year

I know Labor Day feels like the end of something.

Summer is ending.

School is starting.

Schedules are getting crazy again.

But it's also the beginning of the last stretch of the year.

Think back to January.

Was there something you wanted to accomplish with your dog this year?

Maybe you wanted to finally enjoy walks.

Have people over without chaos.

Take your dog places.

Get through puppyhood.

Build a reliable recall.

Help your dog become calmer or more confident.

Maybe you planned to tackle it over the summer and summer somehow disappeared.

That's okay. We're not out of year yet.

You don't need to fix everything this week.

You don't need hours every day.

And you definitely don't need to watch another 37 YouTube videos trying to figure out which one applies to your dog.

You just need to start.

Pick the level of support that fits your life—or let us help you choose it.

And four months from now, instead of putting the same goal on your list for 2027, you might get to look back and say:

“We did it.”

You don't have to have the whole plan.

You just have to take the next step.

Better Every Day.
